Raymond Edward Fosse

Captain Ray Fosse, born August 3, 1938 in Seattle, WA was a Master Mariner for over 40 years passed away Thursday April 16, 2015. He was a Port Pilot for the Port of Hueneme for many years and an elected Oxnard Harbor Commissioner for 20 years. Ray comes from a long line of seafarers, both his father and grandfather were sea captains.
He was a great story teller and always had a joke for any occasion. A wonderful husband,parent,grandparent,and great grandparent. He is preceded by his son Ron, and his father and mother Raymond and Mabel Fosse.
Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years LaVonne ;sons Brian,Larry and Robert; daughter Janice;his sister Judy Snider(Neal) of Tacoma,WA/Mesa,Az and brother Ernie (Linda) from Arlington WA; 8 grandchildren, Tabitha, Brandon, Nicholas, Shane, Kristopher, Kelsey, Gage and Kristin, three great grandchildren Kyla, Kaden, and Colton.
He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Choir (director over 30 years), The Sons of Norway, Navy League, Oxnard Elks, and Channel Islands Maritime Museum. In many organizations he was considered "Poet Laureate."

The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support in their time of need. Also, thanks to Livingston Memorial Hospice and caregivers Jean and Ricardo "Angels of Grace" for their kindness in caring for Ray.
A Memorial service in celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 11am in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church,905 Redwood Street Oxnard, with the Rev. Jennifer Chrien presiding. A reception will follow at the Oxnard Elks Lodge.
