Wansley Barton Youmans, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Michael Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Arp Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Youmans was born August 3, 1925, in Cordele, Georgia to the late James David & Myrtie Fowler Barton. She was a graduate of Rebecca High School. She worked at the Pentagon during World War II and was a clerk for H.R. Kaminsky & Sons. She later managed Youmans Carpet in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Youmans was an avid reader. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sam & Debbie Youmans of Douglas and Wanda & Byron Smith of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren: Jason Youmans, Stuart & Callie Smith, Barton Smith, and Carly Smith, all of Fitzgerald; great-grandson, Elijah Carver and another great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Dorothy Cole of Tifton and Juanita Williford of Rebecca; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn & Gerri Barton of Parrott; and a sister-in-law, Dot Barton of Hazlehurst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal A. Youmans, a grandson, Kevin Carver; and two brothers: Jack Barton and Doris Barton.
