Obituary

Alberto L. "AL" Lifrieri, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life peacefully in his home in Charlestownm on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. He was 75 years old.

Al was born in Boston on May 20, 1939, a son of the late Francesco Lifrieri and Albina (DeRose) Lifrieri. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. Al enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on July 30, 1956 and served his country with pride for 4 years. He was discharged on June 30, 1960 with the rank of Lance Corporal. Al worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years, where he was stationed in Copley Square. Al was a member of The Abraham Lincoln Post # 11 of Charlestown.

Al is the beloved husband of Mary D. (Barry) MacKay. He is the devoted brother of Joan "Jennie" Squitieri of Wrentham; Joseph Lifrieri of Spring Hill, FL; Mary Kelley of Hudson; Jean Maguire of Marco Island, FL; and Frances Gordon of New Haven, CT.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Al's visiting hours on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at The Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 PM.
