WINSLOW, Elena “Helen” (Sakovich), of Winthrop, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on April 13, 2015. She was 90 years old. She was the wife of the late Sidney E. Winslow. Born in Bellows Falls, VT, she was the cherished daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Ruhl) Sakovich. Devoted mother of Barbara Benevento and her husband Stephen of CA, Irene L. Phelan and her husband James of Lynn and Bob Winslow and his wife Nancy of Sandown, NH. Adored grandmother of Kimberly and Stephanie Benevento, Brian Phelan and his wife Melissa, and Colleen and Roxann Phelan. Loving great-grandmother of Parker James Phelan. Dear sister of Vera Nowell of NH, and the late Peter and John Sakovich, Mary Gilkerson, Anna Wahlstrom, and Stephy Chenowitch. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop, on Thurs, April 16, between 9-11am. A Graveside Service will follow in Winthrop Cemetery at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Helen was a member of the Winthrop Senior Center where she enjoyed many of the activities they had there.
