RITT, Dr. Paul Edward, Jr. Of Wayland formerly of Weston, loving husband, father, and grandfather, Paul went to be with God on April 12, 2015. Paul was born on March 3, 1928 in Baltimore, MD, the only child of Paul Edward Ritt, Sr. and Mary Knight Ritt. He was a scholarship student and graduate of Calvert Hall High School and Loyola University, Baltimore. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. His very successful career included a variety of research related positions, culminating in his acting as Director of Research for GTE Laboratories in Waltham, MA. After retiring from GTE, Paul took a faculty position with Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years Ann Wintz Ritt, his son Rev. Paul E. Ritt III of St. Maria Goretti Parish and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish both in Lynnfield, MA; son James T. Ritt, his wife Eileen, and their sons, James, Kevin, and Daniel of TN; son Peter, his wife Pamela, and their children Amy, Patrick, Melissa, and Michael of PA; daughter Mary Power, her husband, Jack, and their children J.P. and his wife Kiera, Meghan, Brendan, and Christopher of Salem, NH; son John, his wife Sandy, and their children Peter, John, and Sarah of IL, and; son Matthew, his wife Marie, and their children Jane and Mark of Norfolk, MA. Paul was blessed with the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Adelaide Mae, Amy Ritt’s daughter, in June 2014.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St.,(Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Thursday, Apr. 16 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Wellesley Hills at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting Hours Wednesday, Apr. 15 from 4-7pm. Interment Linwood Cemetery, Weston. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Catholic Charities or Alzheimer’s Association.
