Avis M. (Adams) Kingsbury, age 86, formerly of Hanover, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015, in her home in Carver, MA.
Avis was born May 14, 1928 to Ernest and Bessie Adams on Beech Hill in Keene, New Hampshire. She is predeceased by her loving husband, George E. Kingsbury(1984); her brothers, Everett, Earl and Ernest (Bunny) Adams and her sisters, Theda Whitney, Ruth Beliveau and Janice Adams.
Her two sisters, Barbara Lambert of Keene, NH and Gail Hackett of Montrose, CO, survive her. Cherished mother of Betsey Netto of Temple, NH, Rodney Kingsbury of Ocean View, Hawaii, George Kingsbury, Jr. of Easton, MA, Barbie Rugg of Ocean Bluff, MA, Bonnie Banks of Carver, MA and Kevin Kingsbury of Lakeville, MA. She was a loving foster mother to Eddie, Betty, Donna, Arlene and Cindy.
Avis loved and enjoyed her 29 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, her in-laws and the neighborhood kids from King Street.
Avis loved life. She loved to play her guitar, sing and yodel. She took great pride in once riding her bike from her home in Hanover, MA to Keene, NH and back again to visit her sister.
She loved her family, her church friends, her nursing home ministry, her gardens and Jesus most of all.
Avis faced her battle with the process of dementia with the strength of her faith and the friendship of her great-grandson, Liam.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, (Route 58), Carver, MA, on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at United Parish of Carver, 115 Main St.
Interment will be at a later date.
