Priscilla L. Hurton
Devoted wife, mother and grandmother

TEWKSBURY: Priscilla L. (Lane) Hurton, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for over 60 years, passed away at home, with her family at her side on Friday, April 10, 2015.
She was the beloved wife of former Tewksbury Selectman and Town Moderator, William J. Hurton, who passed away on April 13, 2007.
Born in Boston on March 24, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. Lane and the late Sarah (MacQuarrie) Lane.
Priscilla was raised in Winthrop, attended Winthrop schools and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1944. Following high school, she attended Tufts University.
Following her wedding, she and her late husband moved to Tewksbury, enrolled as parishioners at St. William’s Church, and raised three children.
In her spare time, Priscilla volunteered at the Tewksbury Hospital and served for many years as a Poll Worker on Election Day.
She loved the company of her family and grandchildren, skiing in North Conway, NH, where she and her late husband initially met, and knitting. In addition, she enjoyed attending socials at the Tewksbury Senior Center, and participating in the water aerobics classes at the Lowell YMCA as well as at the former North Meadow Tennis Club in Tewksbury.
Priscilla was a member of the Goldenville Nova Scotia Historical Society.
She is survived by three children, Michael J. Hurton and his wife Susan (Tartaro), Joan C. Hurton, and Anne M. Hurton all of Tewksbury; three grandchildren, Sarah Hurton of Charlemont, Stephen Hurton of Westborough, and Rachel Hurton of Tewksbury; two sisters-in-law, Joan Hurton of Melrose, and Winnie Lane of Laguna, CA; her brother-in-law, James Bransfield of Wilmington; also many nieces and nephews.
Priscilla was the sister of the late Elizabeth (Mattin) Trafton, Philip and Arthur Lane. The sister-in-law of the late Marion Bransfield, Arlene and William Kellogg, Paul Hurton and Albert Mattin.

Calling hours are Monday, April 13, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oblate Infirmary, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
