Thomas H. Lemieux, Sr., 88, of Dartmouth died April 9, 2015 peacefully at home.
He was the husband of Mary A. Lemieux and the late Helena J. (Corriera) Lemieux.
Born in Dartmouth, the son of the late William J. and Helen C. (Dugan) Lemieux, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
Mr. Lemieux was formerly employed as a mechanical engineer at Newport Naval Base for many years until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. An avid golfer, he was a former member of the Hawthorne Country Club and was a member of the VFW. Thomas served on the school committee for Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and several committees in the town of Dartmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; five children, Thomas H. Lemieux, Jr. of Westport, Paula Flannery and her husband Michael of Dartmouth, James Lemieux and his companion Mary Fitzgerald of Dartmouth, Andrea Hensler and her husband Steven of Redlands, CA, and Joseph Lemieux of Dartmouth; thirteen grandchildren, Lisa, Megan, Tricia, Laura, Michael, Julie, Jacob, Patricia, Kathryn, Susan, Carolyn, Andrew and Matthew; eight great-grandchildren, Remington, Isla, Ava, Isaac, Benjamin, Charlotte, Jordyn, and Harmony; many nieces and nephews; and two stepchildren, Madeline Almeida and her husband Alvin of Westport, and Donald Hoaglund and his wife Carol of New Bedford; and five step-grandchildren, Joshua, Willow, Kate, Teale, and Brett.
He was predeceased by his siblings William Lemieux, Joseph Lemieux, Alice Curry and Ruth Richardson.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 15, at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
