James Michael Thomas, Sr.
James Michael Thomas, Sr. passed away Thursday evening, April 9, 2015 at his Jacksonville, FL residence.
Mr. Thomas was born June 20, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, NY and moved to Jacksonville 17 years ago. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a volunteer firefighter. He was a former president of the Exempt Fireman's Assoc. and a member of VFW Post 170. Most important in his life was his family. Mr. Thomas was also an avid golfer and loved watching movies; especially John Wayne movies.
He was predeceased by his twin daughters, Jeannine Marie and Mary Elizabeth Thomas; his parents, Louis Nicholas and Gertrude Hall Thomas; three brothers, Charles, Richard and Jackie Thomas; and a sister, June, Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Helen K. Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; a son, James M. Thomas of Yulee, FL; three daughters, Kathleen Jenkins (Peter) of Middleburg, NY, Colleen LeSoine (Peter) of Millbrook, NY and Julianne Koenig (Bruce, Jr.) of New Paltz, NY; two brothers, Donald Thomas (Joann) of Hyde Park, NY and William Thomas of Poughkeepsie, NY; two sisters, Barbara O'Brien (John) of Hyde Park, NY and Janet Thomas of Poughkeepsie, NY; 12 grandchildren, Christina Wood, Sarah Jenkins, Nicholas Hoffman, Emily Kate Jenkins, Kayla Thomas, Cody LeSoine, Christian LeSoine, Bianca Thomas, Samantha Koenig, Kaitlyn Koenig and Ashleigh Koenig; two great grandchildren, Luke and Ella Wood; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie, NY (845-485-0241) at a time yet to be decided.
Flowers would be appreciated; however, those who prefer may make a memorial donation to the charity of their choice. Any floral tributes should be sent to Miller & Son Funeral Home.
