Loretta T. (Souza) Harrington passed away at her Medford home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday night. She was 80. The daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Camacho) Souza, Loretta was raised in Somerville and lived for some time in Littleton before settling in Medford. She enjoyed a 30-year career at Polaroid Corporation where she made the identification plates used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After her retirement she worked part-time at Bickford’s in Medford.
The beloved mother of Cynthia G. Hamilton and her husband Anthony of Ashby, Nancy B. Rogers and her husband Sgt. Lawrence Rogers of Medford, she was a loving grandmother to Christopher, Steven, Mark, Jarrod, Jenni-Lyn and Johanna. She leaves her loving great-grandchildren: Anthony, Kyler, Jaden, Isabela, Sophia, Amelia and Jacob as well as her loving great-great-grandchild Haylie. The dear sister of John Sousa, Joseph Souza and his wife Betty, Frank Souza and his wife Susan, Katherine Johnson and her husband Walter and the late Mary VanDeusen, Anna Costa, Manuel Souza, Clair LaGambina and Cecelia Jennings she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her former husband William R. Dyke.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, April 13th at 10 AM and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
