Mary Ruth Kiser
Augusta, GA – Mary Ruth Kiser, beloved wife to the late Robert G. “Bob” Kiser, Sr., went home to her Heavenly Father on April 8, 2015.
Mrs. Kiser was a native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia and was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. She, with her husband, moved to Augusta, Georgia where she taught Physical Education and coached basketball and softball in the public school system, including Richmond Academy and Westside High School. After thirty years of teaching, she retired from Westmont Elementary. Following retirement, she enrolled in Rhema Bible College where she received her degree in Evangelism. She truly enjoyed speaking at numerous churches, her prison ministry, and her ladies Bible study group.
Her proudest accomplishment, beyond her Christian ministry, was being a mother to her four sons and “Nanny” to her seven grandchildren.
Family members include her sons: Robert Glenn Kiser, Jr., Barry Dean Kiser and his wife Beth, Timothy Lee Kiser and his wife Nina, Richard Todd Kiser and his wife Danita; daughter-in-law: Paula Kiser; grandchildren: Tess, Katie, Alex, Larsen, Alex, Hannah, and Addison; brother: John Wesley Slagle and his wife Connie; and sister: Nell Cooper.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at New Life Christian Center with Pastor Phillip Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Wesley Slagle, Jr., Jim Slagle, Lee Barnes, Eric Cowart, Barry Allen, and Jack Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be the Thursday Bible Study Girls.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Life Christian Center Building Fund, 250 Bobby Jones Expressway, Martinez, GA 30907.
