Albert A. Latour, PhD, of Manchester, New Hampshire died Easter Sunday April 5, 2015 at home. He was the former husband and lifelong friend of Lillian D. (Pontbriand) Latour.
Born in Manville he was a son of the late Aram and Alice (Leboeuf) Latour. He was educated at St. James School and was a graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy Class of 1952. Dr. Latour went on to graduate from Providence College with his Bachelor’s Degree in Science. He later received his Master’s Degree from UConn in Hartford, CT and his Doctorate in Chemical Research from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA.
His career in industry included serving as director of the textile department at Good Housekeeping in Manhattan and later at Brown Shoe Company in Clayton, Missouri. During his life he resided in Worcester, New York, Missouri, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Albert was a member of the American Chemical Society and the National Science Foundation. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Some of his most favorite times were traveling and celebrating special occasions with family and friends.
In addition to Lillian, he is survived by a son Dennis A. Latour, a daughter Jeanne L. Latour and a grandson Dennis J. Latour. He was the brother of Robert and Roger Latour, Louise Cardenelli, and Diane D’Anjou. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. He will be greatly missed by all those who were privileged to know him and will cherish their memories of Albert.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. James Parish, 33 Division St. Manville, RI. 02838.
