Edmund Quadros, 85, of New Bedford, died Monday April 6, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Elizette (Pascoal) Quadros, who died in 2013.
Born in Dartmouth, the son of Domingos and Filomona (Lemos) Quadros, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He graduated from New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a disabled veteran.
After returning to New Bedford, he worked in the coin-operated laundry business before joining the U.S. Postal Service in 1967 as a letter carrier. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals.
Mr. Quadros was a proud American who raised the flag at his home every day. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. He was also proud of his Portuguese and Azorean roots and greatly enjoyed his many family trips there. A people person, he exemplified the saying, “A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.’’
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Quadros Bowles, with whom he lived, and beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was the brother of the late Elsie (Quadros) Pimental.
Funeral from the Saunders Dwyer Funeral Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday April 10 at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, April 9 from 4-8 p.m.
