Obituary

James “Jim” Dennis Dickey, age 65, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born July 21, 1949 in Water Valley, MS to Marjorie McMinn Dickey and the late Roy Mack Dickey. Jim graduated Clairemont High School in San Diego, CA in 1967 and was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the 1st Infantry in the Viet Nam war. After leaving the army, Jim went to work at Batesville Casket Company as a knife specialist and worked there until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Stoney Moorhead officiating. Burial will be in the Jumper’s Chapel Church Cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS.

Jim is survived by his mother, Marjorie McMinn Dickey of Water Valley, MS; two brothers, Jerry(Nancy) Dickey of Water Valley, MS and Charles Barry (Linda) Dickey of Los Vegas, NV; three nieces, Sarah Dickey, Katie Dickey and Autumn Broome; and one nephew, Brian Dickey.

In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sallye Spearman Dickey.
