John M. Lima, 99, of S. Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at The Oaks in New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Emma (Sherratt) Lima.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late John and Mary (Cabral) Lima, he had been a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a student coordinator for Dennison Memorial Community Center in New Bedford. He served his country in the United States Army as a trained Medic-surgical technician and spent 3 years in the South Pacific during WWII. Mr. Lima was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America, working as an Eagle Scout counselor and a member of the Allen's Neck Friends Meeting House, Dartmouth. He enjoyed camping, was an avid golfer and loved his dog Heidi.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was the brother of the late Joseph, Tony and Linda Lima, Mary Carvalho and Laura Williams.
