Joseph P. Grieco, Sr., 92, formerly of Wellesley died April 4 in the Forge Hill Assisted Living Center in Franklin. He was the husband of the late Claire E. (McKeon) Grieco who died in 1983.
Born in Wellesley, March 22, 1923, the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Damiano) Grieco, Mr. Grieco had lived most of his life in Wellesley. He was a graduate of Wellesley High School.
Mr. Grieco had been a Lineman for many years for the Town of Wellesley before retiring.
He served in the Army during World War II attaining the rank of Private First Class. Joe was a founding member of the Italian American Education Club in Wellesley. He was also a member of the Natick V.F.W. and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his children Kathleen Grieco of North Chelmsford and Joseph P. Grieco, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bellingham. He is also survived by his grandchildren Victoria Grieco, Paul Grieco and Lillian Grieco.
Joe is also survived by his sister Lena Guarino of Wellesley and was the brother of the late Gloria DiGiandomenico, Anna Ray and Patrick Grieco.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday April 9 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street Franklin at noon. Burial will follow in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
