Bennie Watts, age 72, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born May 9, 1942 in Wynne, AR to the late Benjamin and Edna Watts Thurman. Bennie served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war, attended Bethel Baptist Church of Water Valley and worked as a Master Mechanic for Georgia-Pacific where he retired after 25 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, cooking and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. E. J. Bratcher officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Bennie is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Stephen) Harper of Brandon, MS; two sons, Carl Wayne Mathes (Rhonda) of Hattiesburg, MS and Randy Neal Johnson (Lynda) of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Linda Thurman Wilcox of Bryant, AR and Sharon Templeman (Gene) of Newport, AR; and four grandchildren, Morgan Mathes, Dalton Mathes, Kelsey Mathes and Lexi Johnson.
