Obituary

Dudley – Evelyn M. (Strutton) Waterhouse, 92, died at sunrise on Easter Sunday morning, April, 5, 2015 in Webster Manor with family at her side. Her husband of 48 years, Lewis O. Waterhouse, Jr. died in 1993.
She leaves 2 sons, James S. Waterhouse and his wife Judy of New York, and Rev. Mark S. Waterhouse and his wife Julie of Kansas; 4 daughters, Ruth E. Durocher of Canada, Elizabeth Anne Loccisano and her husband Enzo of France, Mary Alice Lanman of Dudley, and Jane A. Waterhouse and her husband James of New Hampshire; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, June Messer of New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis O. Waterhouse III in 1965 and by her sister, Audrey R. Nagle in 2004.
Evelyn was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Sydney and Hilda M. (Buck) Strutton. She graduated from Notre Dame de Sion High School in 1940, attended the University of Saskatchewan and graduated as a registered nurse from Saskatchewan City Hospital in 1944. She lived in Toronto, Cambridge, Oxford, Webster, Quebec, Pennsylvania and Maine before returning to the Webster-Dudley area in 1994.
Mrs. Waterhouse was a private duty registered nurse before she retired. She also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Toronto when she resided there.
She was a member of the Church of the Reconciliation in Webster, where she sang soprano in the choir and helped at the Friendly Corner for several years. She was a member of the altar guild in various churches throughout her life. She also enjoyed the ministry of visiting nursing homes. She had once belonged to Grace Episcopal Church in Oxford and had been president of the Women’s Auxiliary there.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 10, in the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main Street,Webster. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 Thursday, April 9, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac at the convenience of the family. Donations in her name may be made to the Church of the Reconciliation Memorial Fund, 5 North Main Street, Webster, MA 01570.
