Obituary

CHICOPEE – Lucy C. (Stempkowski) Robert, 93, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, March 2, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on October 19, 1921, the beloved daughter of the late Frank Stempkowski and Zofia (Franz) Stempkowski. She was raised in the Smiths Ferry section of Holyoke, graduated from Chicopee High School and moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1967. She was employed as a hat trimmer at the former Blum Company in Holyoke and later worked at W.T. Grants in Chicopee and the Monson Developmental Center. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Richard W. Robert who was Called Home on September 2, 1957. She leaves her four devoted children, Steve R. Robert of South Hadley, Mary Ann Ireland and her husband, John, of Delmar, NY, Joan L. Benjamin and her husband, Michael of Florida, and Kenneth J. Robert of South Hadley; her eight cherished grandchildren; her two cherished great-grandchildren; and her many dear extended family members and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley Falls, MA 01075. Her burial will follow the Mass at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, 152 Pitroff Avenue, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
