SPENCER: Kathleen E. (Bird) Laprade 65, of Bay Path Rd., died Saturday, April 4 after being stricken ill at home, and passed away surrounded by her family.
She leaves her husband of 45 years, Robert P. Laprade, her daughter Lisa A. Wood and her husband David of Spencer, her grandchildren, Amanda L. Peterson of Providence, RI., and Paul R. Peterson of Spencer, a great grandson Ja'zarion-Joshua Ruiz, two brothers Robert J. Bird and his wife Lynn of Florida and John P. Bird and his wife Melissa of Harwich.
Kathy was a nurse's aide for 17 years at Lincoln Hill Manor in Spencer before retiring in 2014.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Elaine F. (Duhamel) Bird and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1969. She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish. She enjoyed doing her Words-Finds, her cats, the backyard pool and especially her longtime relationship with her patients at Lincoln Hill. The family would like to thank the valiant efforts of the Spencer Rescue Squad and Spencer Police Dept. for the emergency care they gave to Kathy at her home.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 9 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with as Mass at 10 a.m in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 8 from 5 to 7p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, Ma. 01515.
