Arthur T. Woods, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Wingate at Reading. He was 96 years old.
Arthur was born in Somerville on October 25, 1918, a son of the late Paul J. Woods and Imelda (Richardson) Woods. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. He enlisted into the United States Army on October 14, 1941 and served his country with courage and pride in North Africa and Southern Italy during WWII. He was discharged on August 18, 1945 with the rank of Tec 5. Arthur later reenlisted into the United States Air Force on August 3, 1948 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on August 2, 1951 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, Arthur worked as a shipper for the Whitings Milk Company until his retirement.
Arthur is the beloved brother of Paul Woods and the late Gloria Woods, Thelma Regan, Mary Champaigne, John Woods, and Leo Woods. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Arthur's visiting hour on Thursday April 9, 2015 from 8:30 - 9:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
