Obituary

Marcelle T. (Parent) Woodhouse, 87, of Dartmouth passed away at home with her family on Wednesday April 1, 2015. She was the widow of William W. Woodhouse III, who died in 1982.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Cecile G. (Choquette) Parent. A graduate of St. Joseph's Grammar School and Holy Family High School, she worked at Dun & Bradstreet and the Merchants National Bank.
Moving to Dartmouth, she and her husband Bill owned and operated the Padanaram landmarks, Julia's Lunch and Julia's Whales Tale. She had been the proprietor of the Woodhouse Shop at Bridge and Elm Streets for the past forty years, where she shared her love of the Village, antiques, and dollhouse miniatures with everyone.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Ladies Guild and for many years helped to organize and run the annual Church auction. She was one of the founding members of the Padanaram Business Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Woodhouse Irwin; her son-in-law, Richard M. Irwin; her grandson, Andrew Miles Irwin; two sisters, Simonne L. Cobb of Lakeville and Charlotte B. Lincoln of Dartmouth; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday April 13, 2015 at 1 PM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Her family will receive visitors at the Church beginning at 12:30 PM. A private family burial service will be at South Dartmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Kennedy-Donovan Center Day Habilitation Program, 9 Hawthorn St., New Bedford, MA 02740 in honor of her grandson Andrew.
