Obituary

Henry Paul Horney, 83, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday March 26, 2015. He died exactly one month after his brother William, with whom he had resided for thirty-two years.

Born in Boston he was the son of the late Edwin and Jeannette (Metzler) Horney. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Edwin, Francis and William and his sister Jeannette Disbrow.

Mr. Horney served proudly in the United States Air Force for over twenty years. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked in the Records Department of the Boston City Hall and for the Small Business Administration.

He was a huge fan of the movies and once the technology became available, he purchased over five thousand titles. He enjoyed lending these to his extended family and spent countless hours watching his favorites. He was an avid reader and loyal supporter of his local library and bookstores.

He enjoyed taking his nephews and nieces on outings and trips around the country and to Canada. Each year Henry and William would host a family reunion, often at the Air Force Reserve’s Fourth Cliff in Scituate. He considered cooking for his family an “act of love”.

He will be greatly missed by his sister Margaret Hurley, several close cousins and over fifty nieces and nephews through three generations.

A celebration of Henry’s life will be held Thursday April 9 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 AM.
