Frances G. (Deibel) McGarvey, 77, of Marion died January 30, 2005 at home after a brief courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with the comfort of the Southcoast Hospice Program.
She was the wife of Owen McGarvey.
Born in Dorchester, daughter of the late Andrew and Frances (Herron) Deibel, she was raised in Dorchester and lived in Marion for the last 44 years.
Mrs. McGarvey was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Wareham.
She was formerly employed by the Town of Marion as a police matron and crossing guard for 31 years until her retirement. During that time, she was also a police matron for Wareham. She worked for Western Union for 6 years after high school.
Mrs. McGarvey was a 1945 graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls.
Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, Douglas McGarvey of Marstons Mills and James McGarvey of Rochester; 2 daughters, Frances Still of Florida and Sally Kordis of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, Francis Deibel of West Bridgewater; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 82 High St., Wareham, Thursday, February 3rd at 10 AM.
Visiting hours are omitted.
Interment Little Neck Cemetery, Marion.
