Obituary

Amy L. Hershenson, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday the 28th of March 2015 after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare form of dementia.

Amy had a vivacious, radiant spirit. She was an incredibly generous and loving person whose positivity, compassion and warmth touched and inspired all that knew her.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she graduated from Tilden High School (Miss Tilden 1951), and went on to receive a BA (English Lit) and MA (Education) from Brooklyn College. Amy worked in the Wellesley Public Schools for 23 years. Her last position was Department Head of Special Education at Wellesley High School. After retiring from teaching Amy worked in a variety of positions including Director of Education at the Museum of Transportation in Brookline.

Throughout her life Amy always had time to tutor a needy student and worked tirelessly for many a worthy cause. She was also an avid member of the Wellesley Players (past President) and the Wellesley Children’s Theater. Amy entertained and embraced all with her engaging, beautiful smile to the very end.

Beloved wife of 60 years to Maurice Hershenson and mother of Gregg and Eric and Carrie and Carol Hershenson, grandmother to Chloe, Lincoln and Turner, she will be truly missed. She is never out of our thoughts and our memories of her are truly wonderful.

There will be a memorial service later in the year in August to celebrate her wonderful life for all who knew her. Memories and condolences are welcome, to leave the Hershenson Family a condolence please visit www.everettfuneral.com
