Stanley J. Olszewski

LOWELL - Stanley J. Olszewski, 89, a retired officer at the Concord Prison and a devout
communicant of Holy Trinity Polish Church, died Saturday afternoon at the Winchester Hospital
after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Rose A. (Nosek) Olszewski, who died Aug.
23, 1988.
He was born in Lowell, April 3, 1915, a son of the late Frank and Barbara (Szewczyk) Olszewski,
and lived in Lowell his entire life.
He retired from the Massachusetts Correctional Institute at Concord, where he had worked for
more than 30 years as a corrections officer. He remained a member of the Mass Corrections
Officer’s Retirement Association.
He was a devout and faithful member of the Holy Trinity Polish Church in Lowell throughout his
lifetime. Whenever possible, he attended daily Mass at the church. He was a member of the
Holy Trinity Holy Name Society, which as a group, recognized his contribution to the parish by
naming him as Merrimack Valley’s Man of The Year, in 1997. He was also a member of the
Holy Trinity Seniors Club.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rose Ann English and her husband George of
Reading; two grandchildren, Mary Jo English and her husband Joe Babiec of Winchester, and
Joseph S. English of Durham, NC; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Ann and her husband
Carl Lebedzinski and Elizabeth Larkin all of North Chelmsford; several nieces and nephews; and a
special friend, Helen Szymaszek of Lowell.
He was also the brother of the late John Olszewski.
His Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Feb. 3, in the Holy Trinity Polish Church, Lowell. A spring burial will be held at the
Holy Trinity Church in Lowell. Memorials to the Felician Sisters Retirement Fund, 1313 Enfield
St. Enfield, CT 06082 or Hospice Care, Inc., 41 Montvale Ave., Stoneham, MA 02180 will be
appreciated.
