Mr. Joseph M. Trask Jr., 86, of Canonsburg, PA and Fort Pierce, FL passed away on Friday morning Jan. 28, 2005 at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 6, 1918 the son of Joseph M. and Elmaretta (Tritt) Trask and lived there for 17 years, then moved to Northport, NY for 6 years. He married Margaret (Ray) Trask on June 21, 1941. He was an AAF Pilot Instructor during WWII from 1943-1945 and held the rank of First LT. He lived near Albany, NY until 1980. Mr. Trask resided in Gorham, NH from 1980-1983. In 1985 he was remarried to Anne Heath Trask. He was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School and Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT receiving an A.B. Degree in 1939. Joseph’s employment included Appleton & Cox Inc. in New York City from 1941 to 1966 and Home Insurance Company in New York City from 1966 until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC in Gorham, NH, the Androscoggin Valley Country Club in Gorham, NH, the Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, PA and the Panther Woods Country Club in Ft. Pierce, FL. He was Vice President of the Glen and Mt. Washington Stage Company and Director of the Gorham Land Company and the Mt. Washington Auto Road Company.
Members of the family include his wife Anne Heath Trask of Canonsburg, PA and Ft. Pierce, FL; 2 daughters Joanna Trask Harrison of San Antonio, TX, and Amanda Trask Bradford of Peterborough, NH; a son Joseph M. Trask III of Jamison, PA; a sister Mildred Trask Roesch of Jensen Beach, FL; 4 stepchildren Greg, Marcia, Janet and Mary; 8 grandchildren; great grandchildren; and 12 step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret (Ray) Trask.
SERVICES: A Graveside service will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 7, 2005 at 3:00 PM at the Evans Cemetery in Gorham, NH. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in his memory to the American Lung Association.
