Agnes M. (O'Connor) Doherty, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and 20 year resident of Humarock, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford. She was 92 years old.
Agnes was born in Boston on September 1, 1922, a daughter of the late Patrick O'Connor and Cecelia (Flavin) O'Connor. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated form Charlestown High School in 1940. Agnes was a homemaker for the majority of her life, devoting herself to her family. She enjoyed shopping at Filene's Basement.
Agnes is the beloved wife of the late Walter G. Doherty. She is the devoted mother of Walter G. Doherty Jr. and his wife Ginger of Charlestown, and the late Patrick G. Doherty and his surviving wife Olga of Chester, New Hampshire. She is the loving Nana to 5 Grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Agnes is the beloved sister of George "Pudgie" O'Connor of Charlestown, and the late Joan Lavallee, William O'Connor, Patrick O'Connor, John O'Connor, Richard O'Connor, Edward O'Connor, Paul O'Connor, and Hubert O'Connor. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Agnes's Funeral Mass on Monday April 6, 2015 in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne is private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
