KARLSON, Michael S. 69, of Boston and Nantucket and Palm Beach, FL, died March 31, 2015, after a long and gallant fight with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jane King, four siblings, Butch Karlson of Patchogue, NY, Peter Karlson of Palm Beach, FL, Jeff Karlson of Eastham, MA, and Donna Karlson of Bar Harbor, ME, along with many nieces and nephews.
Born in Holden, MA, Michael graduated from UMass Amherst in 1968 and received a Masters in Accounting in 1971 from Northeastern University. He began his career at Arthur Young then served as CFO at NFPA, CIO at Cabot Corporation and, most recently, as COO at Ropes & Gray. He remained close to many colleagues throughout his career. Michael was charismatic, engaging and full of life with a love for the outdoors including rollerblading, biking, fishing and golf. He possessed enormous passion and resolve. Formerly a member of The Nantucket Golf Club, Michael was also a member of The Westmoor Club and The Sconset Casino on Nantucket, MA and St. Andrews Club in Gulf Stream, FL.
