BUXTON- Basil C. Tasker Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully in Buxton on March 29, 2015.
He was born in Pittsfield, Maine on Nov. 22, 1930, a child of the late Basil and Daisy (Taylor) Tasker.
He graduated from MCI in Pittsfield in 1949 where he won the Manson Price Speaking Contest, Science Citizenship Medal, and was named to the National Honor Society.
He then served his country in the US Navy for four years and served aboard the USS Currituck AV7 as a ET3. While serving in the Navy, he attended Navy Electronics School and studied radar and radio electronics in a 42 week training course.
Basil went on to work as an electronic engineer for GE, Fairchild, and retired from National Semiconductor after 27 years of service.
He enjoyed metal working and machining, as well as hunting and fishing.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife- Phyllis (Vedine) Tasker; and all his siblings.
Basil is survived by his children- Jan Frank and her husband Bill of Buxton, Larry Tasker and his wife Beverly of TN and Nanette Norden and her husband Richard of Denmark, ME; sixteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Basil will be laid to rest next to his wife in a private graveside service with US Navy Honors in May at the South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery.
