Loring R. Archibald age 87 of Falmouth formerly of Brockton and Raynham, died Thursday March 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, at Heritage at Falmouth after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Winifred (Sweetman) and Dolores (Hayes). Loring was born in Brockton the son of the late Ralph and Elsie (Schofield) Archibald and lived in Brockton for most of his life before moving to Raynham in 1987. During WWII, Loring served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wayandot a/k/a 92.
A longtime employee of the Brockton School Department, Loring retired as a custodian at the Gilmore School. His hobbies included reading books, history and solving crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work and was an antique car enthusiast. He was also a member of the Brockton Elks and most recently the Wareham Elks.
Loring will be remembered as a warm, gregarious and loving man whose true joy in life was his family. He was especially proud seeing his children grow up to be successful and happy.
Loring was the father of Ralph L. Archibald and his wife Marilyn of Sandwich and Carol A. Goodcuff and her husband Robert of Middleboro. He also leaves a granddaughter Brittany McLennan of Alpharetta, Georgia.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Tuesday 2-5 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 5 pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
