Kathryn E. “Kaye” Kachavos, 81, of Barkland Dr., Derry died Tuesday morning April 9, 2002 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Kaye was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on January 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Panopulos) Christopulos. As a military wife for 28 years Kaye made certain her family was comfortable whether it was in the United States, Germany, Japan, Turkey or Thailand. Kaye loved people. She was an inspiration to her family and friends for her willingness to accept, with grace, whatever was given her. Kaye had resided in Derry since 1969.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles Kachavos, Derry, two daughters, Janice Kachavos and Elaine Kachavos both of Leverett, Ma, one son, John (wife Maria) Kachavos of the Netherlands, two deeply loved grandchildren, Mary Catherine Kachavos, Joanna Kachavos, four brothers, James Christopulos, Charlottesville, Va, Nick Christopulos, Winter Haven, Fl, Tony Christopulos, Waukegan, IL, Mike Christopulos, Milwaukee, WI, one sister, Iris Pilafas, San Diego, Ca, also numerous nieces and nephews. Kaye was predeceased by her two brothers, George Christopulos and Robert Christopulos.
Calling hours will be Friday April 12th in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry from 4 – 7pm. The Trisagion service will begin at 5:00pm during calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 13th at 10:00am in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Manchester. Burial will take place in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday April 16th at 1:30pm in the Beth El Cemetery, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday in the Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne, Wyoming from 12:00 - 1:00pm.
