SPENCER-Carol E. Ellms, 69, of Howe Village, died Thursday, January 27th in Coes Pond Hospice Residence. She leaves a brother, George L. and his wife Barbara Ellms of Spencer, a sister, Nancy E., wife of Roger Samia of Shrewsbury, 2 nephews, Steven and John Samia, 2 nieces, Kim Ellms and Karen Benway, several grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Ralph A. and Aida W. (Eckerstrom) Ellms, graduated from South High School and Bates College, Lewiston, ME. Ms. Ellms was a supervisor in the Assessor’s Office for the City of Worcester for many years. She was previously an elementary school teacher for many years in Bennington and Barre Vermont and Bridgeport, CT. She was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester. Carol had a great love of writing poetry and was well known in the area and she also enjoyed gardening.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 29th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5th at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
