WORCESTER-Shirley E. (Doherty) Almeida, 71, of 95 Mill Street, died Monday, April 8th in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness. Her husband of 46 years, Manuel L. Almeida died in 1995. She leaves 5 sons, Leo S. and John W. Almeida both of Worcester, Steven J. Almeida of Sturbridge, Stanley J. Almeida of Shenandoah, IA and David A. Almeida of Leicester; 2 sisters, Grace Mysliwicz and Rose DiMarzio both of Worcester; 9 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
She was born in North Brookfield the daughter of John and Evelyn (Grenon) Doherty and has lived in Worcester for most of her life. Mrs. Almeida worked at the former Big Discount and Goretti markets for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.
The funeral is Thursday, April 11th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue,
with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 10th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
