BIDDEFORD- John R. Dobkowski, 64, passed away on March 25, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine after a long illness. Prior to his arrival at the Hospice House John was lovingly cared for at his house by his long term partner Deirdre Drennen. John was born March 12, 1951 in Passaic, New Jersey and was the son of Edwin and Veronica Dobkowski. He was raised in New Jersey but moved to Maine in 1974, following in the footsteps of his brother Bruce.
John worked as a Portland Fireman for a number of years before he sustained injuries in the line of duty forcing him to retire with a disability. In spite of those injuries John spent 7 years building the cedar log home he lived in for 40 years.
John’s skills and interests included organic gardening, landscaping, medicinal plants, photography, music, cars and cooking. John had a fondness of animals, especially his cat Nephra. Being a spiritual person John enjoyed morning walks in the Biddeford Pool area. John is survived by his daughter Alexandria, four grandchildren, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be announced to family and friends at a later date.
