Edwin G. Olcott, age 68, of Brockton, formerly of Swampscott, died March 20, 2015 at his daughters home following a period of failing health. Born in Waltham, Edwin was raised in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School. For over 35 years, he was employed as a chef at Frank’s Steak House in Cambridge. He retired in 2012 due to health issues. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also loved to work, and enjoyed playing cards.
Edwin is survived by his children Michael Olcott and his wife Pam, David Olcott and his wife Pam, and Michelle Martinez and her husband Miguel, all of Brockton; two step-daughters Dimariz Ortiz and Ramona Cruz both of Taunton; 11 grandchildren Christopher Olcott of Brockton, Nina and Cassandra Olcott of New Bedford, David Olcott, Jr., of Quincy, Kayla, Kristina and Alyssa Martinez all of Brockton, Donte and Dimaray Ortiz of Taunton, and Estraya Leslie and Denia Boone of Taunton. Edwin also had six great-grandchildren, two brothers Lawrence Olcott of Salem and Peter Olcott of Swampscott and several nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of Lynda M. Burke and longtime companion of Charlotte Perry. He was the grandfather of the late James “Dougie” Ortiz and brother of the late Arthur and James Olcott.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday March 28, 2015 12-1pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1pm.
