NEW PORT RICHEY, FL: Gordon L. Jackson, age 95, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, died Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Community Hospital in New Port Richey, FL.
He was the husband of the late Barbara E. (Wilder) Jackson, who died July 24, 1989.
Born on August 24, 1909 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, he was the son of the late Andrew H. and Eva J. (Siddall) Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was raised and educated in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
In 1938, he moved to Tewksbury, where he lived for 54 years until moving to Tarpon Springs, FL in 1992.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 30 years by Atlantic Gelatin Company, a division of Kraft Foods in Woburn, MA.
While living in Tewksbury, Mr. Jackson was a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church. In addition, he was a 33rd degree member and past master of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Tewksbury. Mr. Jackson was also a member of Scottish Rite Lowell Lodge of Perfection, Council of Princess of Jerusalem, the Mount Calvary Chapter of Rose Croix and the Massachusetts Consistory of Boston.
He enjoyed playing Golf and singing at his grandchildren’s weddings.
Gordon’s zest for life and musical talent will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by 2 daughters; Joyce R. Smith and her husband Robert of New Port Richey, FL and Diane R. Driscoll and her husband Richard of Merrimack, NH; 1 son; Gerald L. Jackson and his wife Doris of Westford, MA; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Bessie Castellano of Medford and Myra Mifflin of Stoneham; 1 brother; Norman Jackson of Revere; his special companion of the past 10 years; Betty Eggleston of Niles, Michigan and Tarpon Springs, FL; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jackson was the brother of the late Jeanne Rose, Audray, Theodore and Perry Jackson.
Calling hours Thursday, Jan. 27th from 7-9 p.m. (Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.)at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral services Friday, Jan. 28th at 11 a.m. at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, cor. of Main & South St., Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Greater Lowell VNA/ Hospice, P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01853 are suggested.
