Obituary

Virginia “Ginger” Mary (Moran) Shea, 69, died Sunday, March 22nd in her home in Harwich Port surrounded by her family. She leaves her husband of 50 years, Dermot Shea; her son, Kevin Shea of Worcester; her daughter, Kathleen Brothers and her husband Stephen of Worcester; her son, Daniel Shea and his wife Paraskivi of Germany; her three beloved grandchildren, Casey Shea, Matthew Brothers, and Elizabeth Shea; her sister, Sheila McDonald, who lives in Vermont with husband John and their son Matt. Ginger was predeceased by her parents, William and Virginia Moran, and her brother, Billy Moran.
Ginger grew up in Worcester and was member of the St. Peter’s High School Class of 1963, where she captained the cheerleading team. At school, she met the love of her life, Dermot; they were married on June 19, 1965 and moved to Leicester to raise a family. Dermot and Ginger spent 40 years in Leicester raising their three children and working with many community organizations. They made many friends there.
When her children were older, Ginger earned multiple degrees in finance and banking and went on to a successful career as a loan officer. She worked for several banks and was known for her kind and personal rapport with customers. Ginger retired to Harwich Port, where she continued to work and volunteer full time at the VNA of Cape Cod Thriftique.
Ginger loved life because she loved the people in her life and her devotion to her children and her grandchildren. She missed not one dance recital or sports game or first day of school. Anyone Ginger met heard all about the doings and achievements and personalities of the kids in her life.
Ginger and her family want to thank the caring and professional staff at Broad Reach Hospice & Palliative Care.
