Florence J. (Roberge) Amaral, age 79, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away, surrounded by her adoring family on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Rode island Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Costodio S. “Casey” Amaral who died on September 18, 1993.
Born in Norton, MA on May 20, 1935, she was a loving daughter of the late Gerard J. and Clementine I. (Dion) Roberge, and was educated in Norton schools.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Amaral worked as a Housekeeper for over 20 years at Wheaton College in Norton and faithfully served her family as a dedicated homemaker.
Throughout her life, Florence was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. Her happiest times spent were those in the presence of family, most felt when being around her grandchildren.
Florence was and avid reader, enjoyed baking, maintaining her yard and gardening. When younger she enjoyed bicycling, figure skating and dancing.
She was the beloved and devoted mother of Renee M. Amaral of Norton and Dr. Gary G. Amaral of Virginia. She was the cherished grandmother of George B. Amaral, Reagan C. Amaral and Anabela S. Amaral. She was the dear sister of Anita Bissonnette of Portsmouth, RI, Lucille Charette of Norton, Roland “Butch” Roberge of Norton, Leonard Roberge and his wife Lynn of Kennebunk, ME, and the late Gerard “Stu” Roberge and Irene Patriquin. Florence is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, March 27th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 26th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Florence’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the La Salette Shrine, 947 Park St., Attleboro, MA 02703
