Obituary

Cecile L. (Cote) Roy, 86 of Salem, died unexpectedly, with her family by her side, on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. She was the loving wife of Roger R. Roy with whom she had shared 61 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Emelia (Theriault) Cote. A graduate of St. Joseph Academy, while a student she worked as a sales clerk for the former Almy’s Department Store and as a young woman worked for General Electric and Firestone Tire Co. Cecile and Roger married in 1953 and devoted their lives to raising their family. In later years she worked for the Holyoke Insurance Co. in Salem.

Cecile was totally devoted to her family and their care and comfort. She created a warm, nurturing home where she could cook and host the many family and extended family gatherings. In addition to being a great cook and candy maker, she enjoyed many varied crafts, including knitting, crocheting and embroidering.

A long time member of Ste. Anne Parish, Cecile was very active in parish fund raising and especially the annual church holiday fair. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to Roger, she is survived by a daughter, Jeannine M. and her husband Brian J. Collins of Beverly, a son Roland R. Roy of Salem, 2 loving grandchildren, Jennifer E. and Matthew R. Collins both of Beverly, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters Rolande Arsenault, Jeannette Corbin, Laurette Cote, Irene Plourde & Anita Bernard, and brother Leonard Cote.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
