BEVERLY: Kenneth C. Field, 94, died Friday, March 20, 2015 in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Russo) Field. They shared sixty-eight years of marriage together.
Born in Beverly on November 22, 1920, he was the son of the late Albert F. and Beatrice H. (Hepton) Field. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly and had attended Beverly public schools. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in December 1945.
Ken was employed as a machinist at the former United Shoe Machinery Corp. in Beverly for thirty years before his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Herman A. Spear Post #331, American Legion, Union Club and Italian Community Center, all of Beverly. He enjoyed coaching in the Beverly Little League for many years. He also loved woodworking, playing cards with his friends, and spending time in his garden.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia A. and James M. Mullins of Beverly; two grandchildren, Laurie and her husband, Joseph Occhipinti of Clarion, PA and Salem, MA and Michael Field and his wife, Nadina Simon of New York City; two great-grandchildren, Paul Occhipinti and Benjamin Field and many nieces and nephews, including, Robert Russo, Jr. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn Reed, Hilda Cameron and Grace Field and three brothers, Clifford, Sydney, and Victor Field.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Private services will be held in North Beverly Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the “Resident Activity Fund” of Ledgewood Rehab. & Nursing Center, 87 Herrick St., Beverly, MA 01915 or to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
