Mary Anne Harden Wilcox, 84, of Ocilla, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Hoschton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Ocilla United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Soper officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends 6-8 PM, Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Paulk Funeral Home, in Ocilla.
Mrs. Wilcox was born September 16, 1930 in Osierfield, Georgia to the late Lewis Osborne and Mary Royal Harden. She was a 1947 graduate of Ocilla High School and a 1951 graduate of Georgia State College in Milledgeville where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics Education. She also received her Master’s Degree in Leadership from Valdosta State College.
She retired from Irwin County High School in 1992 where she was an Assistant Principal. Mrs. Wilcox was an active member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, served in several leadership positions, and was a member of the local and district United Methodist Women. She was a former chairman of the Irwin County library board, member and past president of the Pilot Club of Ocilla-Irwin County, and a member of the Ocilla Book Club. She was also a member of the Beta Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Ben Hill-Irwin Retired Educators, and retired Professional Association of Georgia Educators.
She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses: Pam W. Arlotto and husband Thomas of Roswell, Georgia; Jamie W. Lovett and husband Jamie of Hoschton, Georgia; three grandchildren, Matthew Lovett, Claire Arlotto and Joseph Arlotto. In addition to her parents, her husband, James L. Wilcox, preceded her in death; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wilcox; and her sister and brother-in-law, Connie and John Mobley.
