Alden “T. “Al” Peavey

TEWKSBURY - Alden T. “Al” Peavey, age 79, a precision machinist who was well known throughout the
Merrimack Valley, died Sunday morning, Jan. 23, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell,
after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Esther E. (McMahon)
Peavey, with whom he would have celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary this coming June 26th.
He was born in Lawrence, MA, on March 16, 1925, a son of the late Alden L. and Edith (Turton)
Peavey. He was raised in both Lawrence and Maine, but had lived in Tewksbury since 1946.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army, as a combat engineer. During his tour of service in
Europe, he served in many battles including the Battle of the Buldge.
He was hired by Dr. An Wang as a precision machinist during the start up years of Wang
Laboratories. Dr. Wang later convinced Mr. Peavey to open his own machine shop company.
Mr. Peavey headed the advice and founded Wamesit Engineering, which he operated until his
retirement. His later years have been filled by his love and care of his grandchildren.
Mr. Peavey was a long standing member of the Tewksbury Rotary Club, and a life member of the
U.S. Bunting and Cricket Club in So. Lowell.
Besides his wife he is survived by nine children; George M. Peavey, Leslie J. and her husband
John Sullivan, and Stephen L. Peavey all of Tewksbury, Deborah A. and her husband Leo Trager,
Alden T. “Al” Peavey and his wife Brenda (Anderson) Peavey all of Dracut, Brenda L. and her
husband Thomas Coomas of Tyngsboro, Richard F. Peavey of FL, Eleanor M. and her husband
William Lescarbeau, and Paul E. and his wife Sabrina (Bezeredy) Peavey all of Methuen; five
brothers and sisters, Marion and her husband David Christiansen, and Eleanor and her husband
Louis Siopes all of No. Andover, Bernice “Bunny” Peavey and Donald Peavey both of Tewksbury,
John Peavey of Shelburne Falls; nineteen beloved grandchildren, Kevin, Keith, Alden W., Amy,
Caitlin, Marc, Jake, Samantha A., Derek, Philip, John Jr., Jason, Jessica, Alden T. Jr., Matthew,
Adam, Alex, Stephen, and Samantha L.; numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He was also brother of the late George Peavey, and Dorothea “Dotty Ann” Parke.
His Funeral Services was held Friday, Jan. 28, in the First Baptist Church, No. Tewksbury. Memorials to the Tewksbury
