TEWKSBURY - Lorraine D. (McGregor) McPhee, age 74, a retiree of the Tewksbury School
Department, died peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 23, at her Tewksbury home, following a nine
month battle with cancer. She was the wife of John L. McPhee, with whom she had celebrated a
55th wedding anniversary last Thursday.
She was born in Chicago, IL, on Sept. 2, 1930, a daughter of the late John and Catherine
(Wessling) McGregor. She moved to East Boston in her infancy and was educated at St. Mary’s
Parochial School in East Boston. She graduated from East Boston High School. She had lived in
Tewksbury since 1957.
She retired from the cafeteria staff of the Tewksbury Public School system, after having worked
for more than 36 years at the Center, Trahan, and most recently North Street schools.
She was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
Mrs. McPhee also enjoyed Bingo.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John L. McPhee Jr and his
wife Cathy (Sherlock) of Raymond, NH; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary E. McPhee of
Billerica, and Dorothy L. “Dotty” Aronofsky and her husband Paul of Hudson, NH; four
grandchildren, Jennifer Sullivan of Lowell, Paul Jr. and Michael Aronofsky of Hudson, NH, and
Richard McPhee of Raymond, NH; one great grandson, Alex; and many nieces, nephews and dear
friends.
She was also grandmother of the late Charles “Chucky” Sullivan; and sister of the late Theresa
Manfreddi and Mary Sullivan.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Jan. 27, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury.
Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
