TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Marguerite M. (Mullins) Pica, age 94, died Saturday morning, Jan. 22, peacefully at her home. She was the wife of Joseph J. Pica, with whom she had celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary this past October 28th.
Marguerite was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on Aug. 28, 1910, a daughter of the late James ans Margaret (Mara) Mullins. She was a faithful member of St. Williams Church in Tewksbury, and St. Rose Roman Catholic Church in Chelsea where she obtained her education at St. Rose Parochial School from her elementary school years until her graduation from high school . She remained all of her life a staunch supporter of the doctrines and philosophies of the Roman Catholic Church.
As a wife, mother, and practicing devotee to the Church, Marguerite was a teacher by example, and champion of the causes concerned with the health, education, and safety of the oppressed, homeless, veterans of wars, but most especially of her children and the elderly.
She had been employed as a clerk at Kings Card and Gift Store in Tewksbury, and in her earlier years at the cafeteria of Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington.
Mrs. Pica was skilled at homemaking, gardening, sewing, and financial management. She was a prolific reader and held strong beliefs about attaining as much education as possible during one’s lifetime so as to keep abreast of current world events and to develop all the skills necessary to lead a healthy, happy, and rewarding life. She was a genuine animal lover who could often be seen tenderly caring for lost and injured animals and wildlife.
Marguerite will be dearly missed by all her many friends and family and will always be remembered in their daily prayers.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances L. and her husband Robert Bosia of Tewksbury, Penny ‘Florence’ and her husband Stephen Foss of Ipswich; a daughter-in-law, Lillian Ferry of Derry, NH. Mrs. Pica was the proud grandmother of John and Thomas Bosia and Mrs. Peggy Lennon, Michael, Kathleen Roy, Mixchael and Robert Ferry, and Donna Jean Reynolds; and great grandmother of thirteen. Marguerite also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was also mother of the late Robert Ferry; and sister of the late Thomas, James and Katherine Mullins
Her funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 11:30 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 2 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home.
