New Bedford-Donald J. “Pete” Arruda died January 21, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Jeanette L. (Barselou) Arruda of New Bedford. He was the father of Cindy DeSouza and her husband Richard of New Bedford. He was the father of the late Alan Lima. He was the grandfather of Sherrie Santiago, and Christina DeSouza. He was the brother of Carol Buotte and her husband Robert of Vieira, FL. He was the brother-in-law of Olive Arruda of New Bedford. He was the brother of the late Joseph Arruda. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews
Mr. Arruda was the son of the late Joseph A. and Louise (Moura) Arruda. He was a fireman with the City of New Bedford until his retirement. He was also a draftsman for United Aircraft in CT., and Sippican Corporation. He was a Fireman/Engineman with the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1. He had obtained a degree in drafting in his earlier years.
Visiting Hours will be Tuesday January 25, 2005 6-9 P.M.. Services will be Wednesday January 26, 2005 at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 11:00 A.M.
