Sara Moore Stewart, 97, of Snellville, formerly of Tifton, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at New London Nursing Home in Snellville. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 Thursday, March 26, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Stewart will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 25, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Ms. Stewart was born August 26, 1917 in Monroe (Walton County), the daughter of Clement Oliver Moore, Sr. and Mattie Lillie Moore, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Runette; two brothers, Thomas and C. O. Moore, Jr.; and a grandson, Spencer Redmon. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at The Big Store and Moore’s Department Store in Tifton. She was a lifetime member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed her flower garden, flowers and was an expert seamstress. She was an avid walker into her late 80s.
Ms. Stewart is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Wolfe of Athens; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Gaye Stewart of Snellville; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Stewart and Tamara Munger (Bruce); her great-granddaughter, Laurel; and several nieces and nephews.
