Elbert Charles “Bert” O’Neal, 63, of Sylvester, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, March 23, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. O’Neal was born January 30, 1952, in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Ernest T. & Inez Lois Lashley O’Neal. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a carpenter working in the construction industry. He loved to fish as well as grill. Mr. O’Neal loved to watch NASCAR and enjoyed shooting pool. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Diane M. O’Neal of Sylvester; his children: Chris O’Neal, USAF Hawaii and Chasity O’Neal of Florida; step-children: Pamela Annette Epps & Harold of Albany, Patrick Wayne Pearson of Sylvester, and Michelle “Little Bit” Faircloth of Albany; a daughter-in-law, Devenna Pearson of Ashburn; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses: Bonnie O. Turner of Fitzgerald, Peggy O. & Larry Giddens of Tifton, Ruth & Gary Swieczkowski of Fitzgerald, Windell & Bonnie O’Neal of Irwinville, and W.E. & Karen O’Neal of Ocilla. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Paul Donovan Pearson, Sr.
