William J. Oberg, 58, of 38 Merriam District, N. Oxford died Sunday in Worcester Medical Center after a very courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 39 years Linda M. (Courtney) Oberg, a son Michael J. Oberg of Webster, 2 daughters Cheryl L. Jordon of Worcester and Karen E. LeBlanc of N. Oxford, 2 brothers Frank Oberg of Groton, Ct. and Donald Oberg of Princeton, a sister Vivian Hillie of Worcester, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
William was born in Worcester son of Harold F. and Marjorie M. (Edwards) Oberg. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and attended several Boston secondary schools. He was a machinist by trade and a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
William grew up in Greendale and moved to Arizona where he lived for 10 years. He returned to Oxford where he had resided for 27 years. He was a member of Greendale Peoples Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society, Midstate Drive, Auburn, MA 01501.
