Obituary

Peter P. Thomas, 86, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Isabel (Menengas) Thomas; 2 sons, Dennis P. Thomas of Worcester and Steven N. Thomas of Ketchican, Alaska; 1 daughter, Alana J. Thomas of Worcester; 4 brothers, Stephen Thomas, Alex Thomas, and Michael Thomas-all of Worcester, and Christopher Thomas of Taunton; 3 grandchildren, Carleen, Michael, and Derrick Trafecante; 8 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A daughter, Carol A. Currier, 2 brothers, and a sister, predeceased him.


He was born in Worcester, son of Nicholas and Bessie (Tatsi) Thomas. He worked at Heald Machine Co. for many years and then at Sears & Roebuck Co. as a sales manager, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, the VFW of West Boylston, and the 9th Division of the U.S. Army. He served with the Army's 9th Infantry Division during WWII and participated in the invasion of Omaha Beach. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, January 21, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A Trisagion service will be held during the calling hours.
